5 Facebook Content Ideas (and examples) for Wineries

Jul 30

Wineries provide an incredible platform for quality Facebook content.  From their retail shops and tasting bars to wine clubs and private events, wineries have an incredible amount of content at their fingertips everyday.  With such a visual and customer centric business, Facebook is an ideal social media channel for wineries to stay connected to their customers with.  Here are 5 examples of content every winery should be posting on Facebook.

Share Customer PhotosKing Estate, Social media for wineries, oregon wineries

I am a HUGE fan of King Estate Winery and their wine.  It is hands down the most beautiful vineyard I have ever been to.  In fact, I actually proposed to Katie there!  Something they do on regular basis is highlight Instagram pictures taken by people who have visited them.  Not only does it show a different perspective of your winery, but it also is a great way to say thank you to the person who shared the photo.  If they are sharing pictures of your business with their network, the least you can do is display their work to your network as well.

Go Behind the ScenesRobert Renzoni, wine tasting, social media for wineries

Robert Renzoni Vineyards and Winery is a winery I recently discovered in Temecula.  Great wine AND a very knowledgeable staff (take the private vineyard tour, it’s worth every penny).  By showcasing the work that is going on, it shows that your business is growing and exciting new things are coming.  It’s a great way to get people to want to come back and see the progress.  It’s also a subtle way of showing that there is some construction going on at the winery, so they are aware of what is going on.

Share Your SuccessLewis Cellars, social media for wineries, winery marketing

Lewis Cellars is an incredible winery out of Napa Valley.  They have some of the best wines I have ever tasted.  It also happens to be owned by Katie’s uncle.  Because they produce such great wine, they win a lot of awards and get very high ratings on their wine.  This is a great thing to highlight!  If you have fans of your wine, let them know that they aren’t the only ones.  Sharing your awards allows your fans to be excited for you and want to try the wines that were given such high praise.  Be careful with this type of post though, because too much will turn people off.  No one wants to hear you brag about yourself all the time.

Spotlight Other Parts of Your BusinessGiracci Winery, Winery social media, vineyard social media

Giracci Vineyards and Farms is one of very few wineries located in Orange County, and in addition to their tasting room, they also have two horse barns and several horse arenas on their property.  This makes their property a prime location for weddings and other events.  In this case, they are highlighting a styled photo shoot that was taken on their grounds.  It’s a great way to showcase that in addition to the great wine they produce, they also are a great location for your wedding or event.  Sidebar: they have great wine tasting classes here that are definitely worth checking out.

Document Your EventsLaguna Canyon Wine, Laguna Canyon Winery, social media for wineries

Laguna Canyon Winery is literally 10 minutes from the KWSM office and is one of the few wineries located in Orange County.   When you have events at your winery, like a wine club event, document it!  This is a great way to show everyone who didn’t come what they missed out on.  It can be a great way to market your next event as well.  If you have a handful of great photos from your last event, you can post those as you market your next event.  It will show people what to expect and how much fun that event will be.

As you are running the Facebook page for your winery, always remember that pictures are going to be the best kind of content you can post.  Take pictures of every aspect of your business you can think of – lots of them – and start sharing them in fun, positive and educational ways.  This will help attract new fans to your page and will keep them engaged and wanting to come back for more… wine!
