In digital marketing field, we often see LinkedIn as an underutilized channel among businesses. For those who leverage the power of LinkedIn, the value of the channel extends far beyond just another digital recruitment tool. Businesses that are tapping into the power of LinkedIn are generating great returns in a short amount of time.

Following these key strategies will pave your company’s path to social media success:

Polish your profile or page

Whether your company has a LinkedIn business page or you represent your company via your personal LinkedIn account, it’s important to make sure the profile and page are polished and consistent. Review your profile and business page for holes. For example, your company will be less likely to attract new leads if your page or profile do not have photos, a professional summary, or links to your website. Delete unendorsed skill sets and dull accomplishments. Updating your profile with these key items will take you just a few minutes.

Consistency is the key

We’ve all heard the saying “the early bird gets the worm.” This also applies to your activity or lack of it on LinkedIn. The more active you are posting and sharing things on LinkedIn during the week and using the Pulse will make people remember you. This is an important part of creating new connections. Don’t forget to share updates from your company page and interact with people in LinkedIn groups.

Make strategic connections

People often underestimate the power of LinkedIn when it comes to cultivating new connections. LinkedIn is so much more than a digital resume. I can’t express enough how important this is. In business, we meet a lot of people – potential customers, future clients and even prospective employees. Business cards are great, but connecting with people on LinkedIn after you meet them is a smart way to stay fresh in their minds.

Network till your heart’s content

Networking is one of the easiest and most valuable recognition tools on LinkedIn. Trying to get your company’s blog in front of an industry leader or influencer? Networking will make you stand out from the crowd. The easiest way to do this is to take 15 minutes each day to like or comment on the content others are sharing. This increases your visibility with 2nd and 3rd tier connections. Track your networking efforts. With consistent networking, your company is likely to see massive changes in its business.
