How to Make Awesome Photo Content

May 2

Want to elevate your photo content to the next level?

You’ve heard us say it again and again: Visual content is king. Who doesn’t like seeing a beautiful photo or a cleverly designed infographic? The fact is, in a Facebook feed, a picture will always catch more eyes than a simple text status update.

So you’ve got your camera leashed to your wrist and you’re taking photos of anything and everything possible to use as content on your social media. But what next? Your photos are great, but here are five ways to elevate your photo content to the next level of awesomeness.

1. Incorporate Text in Your Pictures: Use your photo and add some text on top of it! Pull a quote from one of your blog posts (keep it short and sweet) and use Paint or Photoshop to type it over your photo. It’ll give your photo more value, and people will be more inclined to “share” it to their own networks.
2. Use User-Generated Photos: Get your audience to submit their photos related to your business! It can be photos of them at your office or store, or snapshots of them using your products or services. User-generated photos are fantastic to use as content because they show people outside of your business interacting with you. Also, people love seeing themselves featured on social media!
3. Create How-To Guides: Use your photos to create tutorials or user guides for your audience. You can make how-to guides about creative ways to use your products, or create tutorials to teach people about a certain skill in your industry. Again, these provide valuable information, which people will appreciate!
4. Use Reviews: Did someone write you a kind email, or a 5-star Yelp review? Take a screenshot of it and turn it into a picture that you can use for content across your social media. It’s never a good idea to try to sell your business on social media, so let others do the talking for you. It’s a great way to show off to your audience about your business’ abilities and credibility, without being sale-sy or obnoxious.
5. Take Screenshots of Your Videos: Sometimes, the preview window on Facebook for a video link isn’t the best representation of its content. Why not try taking different screenshots of the video, and using those instead? Add some text onto the photo (see #1!) and use a link shortener (link to and add the video link onto your post. It’s a little extra work, but it’ll look better and get you more engagement.

Will you use any of these ideas for your photo content? Let us know which one is your favorite!
