This week we’ve prepared two more ways your brand can profit from joining Facebook groups. We especially love that groups bring people together that heavily relate to one another. If you choose the right group, you can find a bulk of your target audience in one spot, which makes it much easier to talk to them.

Most groups don’t allow direct marketing so this is a time to get creative. Here are two more ways you can indirectly market yourself in Facebook groups.

Talk

Marketing isn’t just about telling your audience to ‘shop my sale,’ ‘buy my product,’ or ‘sign up for my newsletter.’ It’s mainly about sparking a connection and talking to your customers and potentials. Join in on a conversation or share your point of view on a popular topic in current events. Just make sure it is relevant to your brand and interests your audience.

For example: If you’re a therapist or relationship coach, groups are a great place to talk about popular TV shows and dive into a light-hearted analysis of characters. Opening a conversation about Olivia Pope’s irrational behavior and untreated PTSD from the television drama Scandal can start a lively thread.

Invite

If you’re hosting an event or doing a FB Live, groups are a great way to spread the word and gather RSVPs. Just remember, not all groups allow these types of self-promoting posts, so follow these guidelines to abide by the rules

  • Find groups that don’t mind the occasional promotion.
  • Invite people who would genuinely be interested. If someone posts about relationship advice, this would be a great time to invite them to your couples seminar.
  • Share as a friendly acquaintance, rather than a business. Instead of saying, “we’re having a couples seminar,” you can say, ‘seminar may be helpful for you. I wanted to share just in case you’d be interested.
