I've been a journalist for 15 years, and during that time, I've watched journalism expand from traditional media to online media, and now, social media. During each shift, my job was to tell compelling stories, and to reach my audience effectively, whether it was through their televisions, laptops, or smart phones.

The technology may be new, but our desire to communicate isn't. We've always looked for ways to make our voices heard, whether it's by writing a letter, calling a hotline or writing on someone's Facebook wall.
